Environmental protection training: Knowledge boosts commitment Training courses for protecting the environment. We can successfully promote environmental protection at the company only if all of our employees share the responsibility for doing so. That’s why we organize training programs in the area of environmental protection for our employees and managers. These courses provide training in the practical aspects of environmental protection on the job, such as the proper handling of hazardous substances, water pollution, waste management, and soil conservation, as well as the general responsibility for protecting the environment. Another important task is the qualification of the auditors who assess the environmental management systems of our plants. We instruct the auditors from our company and from suppliers in the use of standardized programs. In addition, we offer refresher courses that provide participants with the opportunity to share their experiences.

An award for employees who are committed to protecting the environment. Since 2000, Daimler has been running a Group-wide competition every two years for the Environmental Leadership Award. The award is presented to employees in recognition of their outstanding commitment to protecting the environment at the company. In 2009, the Daimler Environmental Leadership Award will be awarded for the seventh time.
